Who makes it
Play Minesweeper is a hobby project made in Germany. It is free, has no advertising and needs no account. The legal details are in the Impressum.
Why it exists
To have a fast, clean Minesweeper that opens instantly in any browser, works on phones and offline, and can be used in a classroom or put on any website, without ads, pop-ups or sign-ups getting in the way.
How the game works
- The classic boards: Beginner (9x9, 10 mines), Intermediate (16x16, 40 mines) and Expert (30x16, 99 mines), plus custom sizes. Your first click is always safe.
- No-guess mode deals only boards a logic solver can clear from the first click, so no game ends on a coin flip.
- The daily challenge gives everyone the same board each day.
- After a win the game shows 3BV and 3BV/s. Wins on the classic boards appear on the public leaderboard, anonymously or under a name of your choice.
- Your games, settings and stats are saved in your own browser. An optional account, without email or password, keeps them in sync across devices.
The numbers behind the game, such as how many boards can be solved without guessing, are published on the statistics page.
For teachers and website owners
Classroom activities and printable worksheets are on the page for teachers. Anyone can put the game on their own site with the embed generator.
