    How Achievements Work

There are 20 achievements in four groups: speed, daily streaks, total wins and a set of special one-offs. They unlock automatically when you finish a game that meets the condition, and a small pop-up tells you which badge you earned. There is nothing to sign up for. Badges are stored in your browser alongside your best times, and if you choose to sign in to the optional account, they sync to your other devices as well.

Games on the three classic boards count wherever you play them: the home page, the difficulty pages or the no-guess page. No-guess boards count exactly like normal ones. Custom boards are for practice and are not added to your saved wins or best times.

Speed Badges: Chording Is the Shortcut

Speed badges are about winning a board under a time limit: Beginner under 10 and then under 5 seconds, Intermediate under a minute, Expert under two minutes and finally under one. The timer starts with your first click, so time spent looking at an empty board does not count.

Raw clicking speed matters less than the number of clicks. Players who open every safe cell one by one rarely get close to the limits. Chording changes that: flag the mines around a number, then click the number itself and all its other neighbours open at once. Hovering and pressing Space does the same and also places flags, which saves moving your finger to the right mouse button. For Beginner under 10 seconds, practise on the Beginner board until the opening deductions are automatic; on Expert, the Minesweeper strategy guide and its patterns are what turn a five-minute game into a two-minute one.

Speed runs on the classic boards can occasionally end in a forced guess. If you would rather every lost run be your own mistake, play the no-guess boards; they count toward speed badges all the same.

Streak Badges: Play the Daily Every Day

Streaks come from the daily Minesweeper challenge. Win at least one daily board, at any difficulty, on consecutive days and your streak grows by one each day. The daily board changes at midnight UTC, so depending on where you live that can be in the evening or the morning. Missing a day resets the streak, while losing one difficulty does not end it if you win another the same day.

The safest way to protect a long streak is to win the Beginner daily first and then try the harder ones. Streak badges and Daily Challenger are checked the moment you finish a daily board, so the badge pops up straight after the win that earns it.

    Win Milestones and Special Badges

Completion badges count your total wins on the Beginner, Intermediate and Expert boards, from 10 up to 1,000. They come on their own with regular play; Beginner boards are the quickest way to add wins.

The special badges each ask for something specific. First Victory is your first win. Expert Conqueror needs any Expert win, regardless of time. Daily Challenger is your first daily win. Tutorial Graduate unlocks when you finish the interactive tutorial on the how-to-play page. Flag Free is the most interesting: win without a single flag on the board. It forces you to remember where the mines are instead of marking them, which is easiest on Beginner, where there are only ten. Flag Master rewards the opposite habit: flag every single mine on the board before your last safe cell opens, so the win ends with all mines marked by you.

    Achievements FAQ

    Where are my achievements saved?

In your browser's local storage on this device, together with your best times and streak. Clearing the site data in your browser removes them.

    Do achievements sync across devices?

Only if you sign in to the optional account. Then badges earned on one device are unlocked on your others too. Without an account, each browser keeps its own set.

Do no-guess and custom games count?

No-guess boards count exactly like normal Beginner, Intermediate and Expert boards, for speed and for wins. Custom boards are not added to your saved wins or best times, so they do not count toward the speed or win milestones.

    When do streak badges unlock?

Streak badges and Daily Challenger are checked as soon as you finish a daily board. If you earned one, it appears right after that win.
